Tori has always been by Baby Girl. She is by my side in anything we do. Tori does things in her own way, and that is Tori's way. She did not want anyone else to show her BUT me, so she made me learn how and showed me what I needed to do. We finished FAST after I started going in the ring with her. Again, that was her WAY. We earned our JH in 4 runs and the last two runs STRAIGHT 10's. She has an amazing run and very birdy. She is an amazing retriever and swimmer. She did not like Obedience, seen no point in that, so we started Dog Dancing. That is what she LOVES. She actually learned Obedience doing that, but has NO IDEA, please do not tell her. Tori had one litter of puppies and was an amazing Mom. Her children and now Grandchildren are out there showing and in the Hunt Tests. Tori is one amazing Girl!!!!!

Today started out like many others, get up, feed the kidz, get dressed and head to work. However, for the last two months or so, as you all know Tori was battling a terrible disease called cancer. It started near the end of November,2008. She had a mass cell on her leg that we took her to the vet for, and they thought they heard a heart murmur. A trip to UC Davis to have it checked out is when we found the tumor in her lung. The Dr. explained everything to us, he thought the surgery would go well, but the life expectancy would be three to six months. After a good heartfelt discussion, we decided that we had to give her a chance.
The surgery well good, tumor and a lung were removed. She recovered and we brought her home three days later, just prior to Christmas, what a present we got from UC Davis. In February, she was well enough to go pheasant hunting, and found two pheasants! Three months, six months went by... she was doing good. Then a setback, some of the cancer came back. She handled the chemotherapy well, and just seemed to keep on having a good time. The staff at UC Davis called her their "Princess". Debbie would take her out front and work her retrieving, run her through the agility course,,,,and I mean run her through it!! S he thought the others were nuts for jumping,,,she put her head down and plowed through the jumps,,,knocking the bars every which way. Two weeks ago she went on a K-9 cancer walk with us,,,enjoyed every minute.
This morning seemed to be no different. We knew she was losing the battle, we had spent the last week or so making sure she was comfortable. She ate a bit for breakfast, when Debbie came home for lunch she was standing on the bed barking at her,,,then demanding lunch. When I got home, she met me at the door, wanting to go out front. I took her out, let her wander around, then when she was done she came back upstairs and waited for Debbie.
When Debbie came home, she was met at the door by Tori, she greeted her and gave her a kiss. As she always did, Tori went over to her bed and laid down to rest. Within a few minutes, Tori peacefully went to sleep and crossed the rainbow bridge, leaving the cancer behind.
Tori was our true Princess. She loved the show ring, and did things the way she wanted to, ran agility the way she wanted, brough the bird back if she wanted.... Debbie earned all of Tori's points for her Championship, did dancing with her and got her Junior Hunter title as well. True to form, she decided when and how to say goodbye to us. She waited until Debbie came home to say her goodbys.
We will miss her........
We would like to thank the medical staff at UC Davis for giving us another 16 months of love and life with her.
